To build that all-important trust with potential clients, they need to know that you walk the talk in your field. But how? To become a trusted authority you must have the ability to confidently serve not only your potential clients but also your colleagues and company. You have to be an authority figure and not just act like one. You need to transform from a salesperson to an expert in the eyes of your potential customers. Here’s how to take control of your messaging Back up what you say with evidence If you want to earn trust and gain a competitive advantage, you must be able to back up everything you say to your prospects with evidence.

Whether it’s on a consultative sales call or in sales enablement content make sure you always have evidence to back up any idea or claim you make. If you claim you have 10 satisfied customers on your website, prepare some testimonials in your sales pitch to back up that number. Part of establishing yourself as a trustworthy authority is becoming an expert in your chosen field. Choose a niche that focuses on your ideal customers and their needs.
